To correspond with my Kiara Re-Re Design seen here: mauevig.deviantart.com/art/Kia…

Since this version of "Kovu" is to be included in this story line, a re-write of Simba's Pride and how I felt it should have gone.

Kovu is also Scar's son, and the son of Zira. I'm not going to try and step around the incest issue and create problems like Disney has. So yes, Kiara and Kovu are cousins, AND he's Nala's half sibling. Yep, you heard me right.

I think Kovu would be a bit like the Kovu in the original plot of Simba's pride, but I'm actually going to have it where Kovu spends more than just a day with Kiara. For one thing, I think Kovu would have some doubts about himself, especially after seeing how peaceful the Pridelanders are. Zira trains Kovu to be a killer, and teaches him that Simba is evil, a villain that destroyed their poor poor father Scar. So she doesn't simply taint his heart and make it ice cold, she actually convinces Kovu that Simba himself is the bad guy who must be eliminated at all costs. This is how I think it should have gone down, but he finds that Simba is a peaceful ruler who respects the circle of life and protects it's balance. He has his faults surely, but a killer he is not.

As for Kiara, while she's tough, she also has a tenderness that she doesn't show to everyone, something he's never seen from the Outlanders, or even from his betrothed Vitani. They don't just immediately fall for each other either like in SP, it's just something they realize they have after their arguments go from serious, to playful. They actually learn about each other, and how they were each brought up. I think Kiara ends up pitying Kovu for being brought up so harshly, and to think she herself has had it so much easier than he, while he realizes how kind the Pridelanders are, and while wary of strangers, don't try to seek out revenge by killing. Death isn't the only answer to a problem, there's always another way. She doesn't immediately trust him, and if I do the same plot where the Outlanders try to ambush Simba, I don't think she would immediately trust Kovu either. He'd have to prove his innocence. She's a lot smarter than her movie counterpart.

I actually haven't thought that much about how Kovu changes other than his looks and parentage, but I do make it so that it makes more sense how he changes from a darker character, to good.

He looks about the same but that might just show how little I possibly remember about the original. :XD:

Well done picture though. You pulled off the perspective on his turned head pretty well.
